Kitchen
The key to sparkling clean cabinets in the least amount of time is to prevent them from getting really filthy over time.
Experts suggest that you spot clean your cabinets every week.
This means, wiping down the exterior of your cabinets with a damp cloth, focusing on smudges and food splatter.
Microfiber cloths work well for this purpose.
In addition to a weekly spot cleaning, it is recommended that you deep clean your kitchen cabinets 3 to 4 times a year, or, every couple months.
Inside Out
During a deep clean, you should clean the interior of the cabinets as well as the exterior.
In order to do this, start by emptying out the cabinets contents.
Work one cabinet at a time in order to keep everything organized and avoid getting things mixed up.
Once the cabinets are empty, begin by using a soft, dry cloth, feather duster or even a handheld vacuum to remove any dust or old food particles that may have gathered over time.
Be sure to pay special attention to crevices and corners.
Once the shelves are dust free, dip a cloth in a mild dish soap solution and use it to wipe down the shelves.
Use a toothbrush to get into those hard to reach places. Wipe off any soap residue with a damp cloth and leave cabinets open to dry.
From the Top Down Technique
When cleaning kitchen cabinets, you should always start at the top and work your way down, remembering to clean the edges and sides as you go.
A 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and warm water or the same dish soap solutions you used to clean the inside of the cabinets can be used on the outside to combat everyday fingerprints, food splatter and mild grease build up.
For tougher stains or if the grease is caked on a little thicker, orange oil cleaner or a paste made of baking soda and water are good options.
These solutions can be applied, and left to sit to penetrate the grease.
Be sure to wipe thoroughly with a cloth soaked in warm water and then use a dry cloth to wipe up any liquids, as sitting water can damage the finish or leave water marks.
Finish your deep clean by wiping down all handles, knobs and pulls and your cabinets will look as good as new!
